CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO)


1. INTRODUCTION
Letter of instruction of Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia dated 22 March 2000: Nomination of Chief Information Officer in Public Sector stated that "Public Sector Agencies have to nominate a Chief Information Officer (CIO) among their top management".
Government IT and Internet Committee (JITIK) Meeting No. 1/2009 chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia on 18 March 2009 stipulated that "MAMPU acts as the Office of Public Sector CIO and provides terms of reference for Public Sector CIO".


2. MAIN ROLES OF CIO

  1. Lead changes through the alignment of the agency's ICT Strategic Plan (ISP) with the requirements of the ministry/state ISP, National Development Plan, Agency Strategic Plan and Public Sector ISP.
  2. Implement the use of policies, standards and best practices of ICT.
  3. Adopt and Implement the use of IT in Delivery Service System Whole-of-Government.
  4. Implement innovation through applications, infrastructure and ICT security.
